Gambling is Big Business!

The Point Spread can determine who wins at Football Gambling!

Betting on the point spread is the most common method of football gambling.  There should be an even chance of winning or losing using this method of betting.

It’s easy to learn how to bet on a point spread.  Your winnings or losses will always be based on what the point spread is at the time of your bet. The first thing you will notice is that one team has a negative number and one team has a positive number. Points are subtracted from the favorite team’s score to determine if they are a winner.  The opposing team has a positive number. Points are added to the other team’s score to decide if they are the winner.

Here is the way to determine how you would win.  For instance, the Dallas Cowboys are playing the New England Patriots.  When you look at the point spread, it says New England Patriots -6 and Dallas Cowboys +6.  So you place a bet on the New England Patriots. If the Patriots win by more than 6 points, you win. If they win by less than 6 points, you lose.  If they win by 6 points even, it is called a “no action” bet and money is returned.

The point spread will go up and down in the week before the game based on a variety of factors.  It could be the weather, or if a player gets injured, or if the bets get overloaded on one team or the other.

There are other ways to win at football gambling other than with the point spread.  Another one of these is the parley.  In this form of gambling you choose two or more teams to win.  All of the teams you choose must win or you lose.  However, if you do bet on several teams and they all win, you stand to make quite a lot of money on the bet. An example is if you placed a $250 bet on four teams. If any one of your four teams loses, you lose.  If you win, you would win $2500.  Choosing five winning teams would earn you $5000 and choosing six winning teams would win you $10,000.

Money line betting is another method of gambling on football. With money line betting it doesn’t matter what the point spread is, you bet a specific amount of money.  If the money line number is a negative number it indicates how much money you have to bet to win $100.  For example, if it was $100 that you bet and the money line was +$110 you would win $110 and get back your original $100.  If you had bet $110 on a team with a money line of -$110 you would win $100 plus the return of your betting money.

It is also possible to place other types of bets, such as betting on the score at the end of each quarter, and proposition bets, such as who will score first, how many yards touchdowns will be, and how many sacks or fumbles there will be.
